could i be in danger of an ectopic pregnancy or is the test faulty?
It would be highly unlikely for you to test positive in a pregnancy test if you weren't actually pregnant. However, it is even more interesting that nothing could be seen in an ultrasound. At 6 weeks the fetus is very, very, very small but a beating heart should be seen. I suppose there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy.
Your dr will have to see what is going on. I had an ectopic pregnancy 42 yrs ago. Long before ultrasounds. By the time I was 5 weeks pregnant, I had severe pain and headed for emergency surgery. How do you feel? Somehow mothers know if something is wrong. I knew before the pain that things weren't right. One way you could have a positive test is to have just had a miscarriage, but you'd know if that had happened. So don't worry until your dr figures it out.
