- polymyositis/dermatomyositis, oxygen
Though I still walk around my home and use a wheeled walker with a seat for short distances, mostly to go shopping I need an electric cart, oxygen tank and someone to push the wheelchair when there is no cart cause not strong enough to push myself.
Main problem is all these people who bump into me, hit me with packages, step over me. I am very careful to be out of the way and don't block anything. What do you do when people actually harm you?
Hello Karen. Scrolling through unanswered questions and came across yours. I tip my hat to you. People can be crude/rude and think nothing about how they behave. No need to respond, have a great day. pledge
Well it sounds like you have a lot to deal with. I know I personally get out of the way of anyone who is in a wheel chair, electronic cart, or on crutches as I imagine they are having a hard enough time getting their tasks accomplished as it is. I often offer assistance if it looks like they are in need of it. I have been completely run out of an isle by someone in an electronic cart tho- they didn't seem to care in the least that I was there, assumed they had the right of way I guess and plowed past me without even an acknowledgement. I couldn't believe how rude this person was. Like I said, I am always considerate to those that have are using devices in order to get around, but unfortunately have experienced the worst behavior by such a person. I would never intentionally put myself before someone else in that type of situation, and if I accidentally did harm someone I would be all means try to make up for it. What about when its the other way around? Sheesh, people can be so inconsiderate, no matter what their situation is. I am truly sorry to hear about your plight. It would be nice if there could always be someone there with you to help/advocate your safety. In answer to your question tho, I certainly hope you speak up if or when someone has put you in harms way, and hopefully there will be someone near by to support you. Have you had a bad experience in particular or are you just concerned about the possibility?
