years ago I put my legs in flea soap water while washing dogs for fleas on numerous occasions. Subsequently I developed nerve problems in both lower legs followed by ulcerations of the skin in the ankle areas. Have you had any similar reports?
I found both Hartz and Advantage flea killers have instructions to wash human skin off immediately if exposed to the chemicals. There are plenty of articles on nerve damage to dogs from flea killing chemicals but I didn't find any about people. Your story tells a cause and effect situation that leaves little doubt in my mind about the flea soap being the irritant responsible for your problems. The ulcerations aren't so common, though. Are you diabetic? That could explain the ulcerations more easily. Still, if you're not, they could have come from the chemicals in the flea soap.
I wish you the best in recovering from these ulcers.
