Will Plavix cause liver damage and/or failure
Hi,RuthDodd; Plavix well not cause Liver problems and has been out and much safer than even aspirin for most people nowadays. This is not like the ones you see TV adds about liver damage etc or heart. You well be just fine. But also always tell your doctor or pharmacist that you are taking Plavix prior to taking other medications. This is a great reason to get all your prescriptions from one Pharmacy so they can look for any Interactions. Just so you know and you can call your Pharmacist to verify food has very little effect on this medication so take it with your breakfast so you do not miss a dose. Avoid any aspirin products or Nsaid's anti-inflammatory medication due to causing stomach bleeding. Lastly, don't take any stomach ulcer or acid reducers without the doctor knowing or check with the pharmacist and ask which one you can take. Also if you are to have any type of surgery you should let your doctor know because they normally well stop this medication at least a week to 10 days prior to surgery. But truly this is much safer for people than the old alternative of warfarin. Please take my advice on getting to know and fill all your prescriptions at just one pharmacy and let them know of any allergies just extra caution for us that have to take different medications and most pharmacists know a lot more about the medications than the doctor I have always gotten my information from the Nurse or the Pharmacist. hope this helps and have a great day.
