Me and my boyfriend had sex yesterday , and the condom broke ! I realized I was ovulating during that time . this is my second time taking plan b , and the first time I'm not sure if I was ovulating . But we went to the store 20 mins later and I'm not sure if it makes a difference if I'm ovulating or not . Please help !
The Manufacturer's of Plan B only claim that it works by delaying ovulation, so if you were already ovulating, it may not be able to do that.
Some people think that it also works by making the womb lining unsuitable for pregnancy, or by making it difficult for the sperm to meet with the eggs, but these are not claimed by the Manufacturer. It's always worth taking the drug if you're trying to prevent pregnancy, as it may still be possible in one of these ways, if not all.
If you want a method of emergency contraception to use, in case you were already ovulating, you can have an IUD/Coil fitted by a doctor. This can be done within 5 days of unprotected sex, to try to prevent pregnancy.
