I had protected sex with my boyfriend but the condom broke !!! This was around 12:20 at night time by the morning around 11-12 I took plan B but here's the thing my perido isn't regular I can have either for 3 days or a whole week and it won't come back until 2-3 months or more ... Am I supposed to still get my perido ? Can I still get pregnant even if I took it 12 hours later ?
Yes, you can still get pregnant even when taking Plan B. If it's in time to delay your ovulation, then it's said to be around 89% effective, when taken within 12 hours of the unprotected sex. If you were ovulating already, then it's not likely to do anything.
Some people say it may work in other ways, but the Manufacturer does not claim this. Just that it works by delaying ovulation.
It's worth looking up correct use of condoms, as there is a method that can help prevent them bursting.
Your periods are likely to become even more irregular for a few months, now that you've taken Plan B. It messes up most women's cycles for a month or two, but if you're already irregular, or on regular birth control hormones, then its effect can be longer.
You might not bleed at all, or you may get spotting or bleeding. You'll not know if it's your period or not, & you may get several bleeds, or none at all. Then only way you'll know if you conceived, is by doing a pregnancy test in a few weeks time.
If you want to be extra cautious, you can have a coil/IUD fitted by a doctor, within 5 days of the unprotected sex. That acts as an emergency contraceptive, too. It can also be left in place for longer term contraception.
