I had my period on Feb 11-14 but I had sex with protection on the 15. Just to be safe I took plan b. on the 21st I had some light to moderate bleeding for 4 days which is the normal length of my period. My normal scheduled period counting from Feb 11 is supposed to come on March 11, but I havent had many symptoms other than sore and tender breasts. I am not sure if I should count the light to moderate bleeding as a period which would cause my next period start day to be March 21. I am a bit nervous and not sure what to expect.
Taking Plan B on the 21st after having sex on the 15th, would not make any difference if you had become pregnant from sex on 15th. You left it too late to have any effect on that.
In order to be effective, Plan B must be taken no later than 72 hours after sex.
All you have done is put your body through a large dose of hormone, (which it is now trying to re-balance) for no reason, & it's going to give you all the side effects that go with Plan B, & none of the benefit (emergency contraception).
You used protection on 15th, so it is unlikely that you will be pregnant.
Plan B can make you bleed, & then can also cause your next period to be up to a week late.
That next period could also be lighter or even much heavier.
You may feel very hormonal for a couple of weeks. It certainly made me really depressed, but everyone is different in how their body handles Plan B.
As far as the symptoms you are now experiencing, everything is normal, so try not to worry & just sit tight until it passes.
The words "just to be sure" make me kringe. Like plan b is some kind of magic potion that will end all pregnancies. You had protection it didn't break. You did not need to screw up your body with a huge dose of hormones. If you dont trust condoms, then get on some birth control. Plan B can really screw up your cycle for at least a month. OH, the bleeding you had is not a period it is a side effect of plan b, your period will be late.
