My nephew has ADHD and just cannot swallow pills. Is it effective to place the concerta under his tongue and let him suck on it for a number f hours?
No that can't be done. Neither can it be chewed or crushed. It is coated so therefore these things can't be done. He is going to have to learn to swallow them. He's going to need to take a lot of pills in his lifetime. The only other option is to get the dr to change the med. There is a patch that he would have on his skin. Daytrana. Its the same medication as concerta.
pe17ku; Just as Kaismama has said; NEVER on a pill that is timed release can you do anything but swallow, What you might try is put it in a teaspoonful of applesauce and have him just swallow the applesauce and forget the lump followed by a bit of water but never do what you are doing or anyother way these are meant to let a little of the medication out at a time so that it last longer if you can't do this talk to the doctor about the patches like Kais.
