My thyroid is fine what. I am following a 1200-1500 calories per day and drinking plenty of water.I workout 5 days a week. Sometimes i feel like giving up.
Hello mirnadelgado51. Time to stop taking Phentermine. Its meant to be taken for the short term only, not longer than 3 weeks. I am surprised that your doctor has allowed you to continue taking the drug. The longer on the drug the more your body builds up a tolerance to it. That, as well as the risk of severe side effects are the reasons its not taken for the long term. Best to you, pledge
I agree with Pledge!!! Phentermine is not a safe drug. NO WEIGHT LOSS medication is safe, and now two more have been approved from the FDA, which really gets me angry. How many people died from the fen-phen debacle, and it only came out YEARS after they even had specialized clinics just for the distributions of those pills. Please, you are hurting yourself taking these medications more than the weight is hurting you!! Doctors can't admit this, but the BMI was not developed to diagnose obesity. Actually it was a study being done by some researcher to compare different groups of people. It had NOTHING to do with being overweight!! a BMI doesn't measure how much muscle mass you carry, nor does it address if you are big boned, or petite!! It is merely a formula that uses height v. weight, and that is ALL that it does.
How it got into medical textbooks is a mystery to me, but I believe that when gastric bypass started, so did the use of BMI.
So much for my soapbox. Are you healthy? Have the doctors ruled out thyroid disease, not only a T-4 or T-3, but a TSH also? They have to put many pieces of the puzzle together to decide if there is thyroid disease, not just one test. Again, how do YOU feel. Are you tired all the time? Is it hard to exercise because you become winded, or it becomes "too much?"
If you are feeling fine, and nothing else is wrong with you, forget who decides that you are overweight. If you are unhappy with your weight, there are doctor supervised programs called Medi loss (or something to that effect), that supervise and figure out why you are not losing weight. Weight watchers is NOT expensive, and it IS successful!!
Best of luck to you, I know how difficult it is to lose weight, but pills are NOT your answer.
