... transplant? Is a patient that had a prior history of breast cancer that later developed fatty liver (Nash) disqualify for a liver transplant?
Can a person who had breast cancer years ago that now has cirrhosis from Nash qualify for a liver?

Hi Susan, If you only have fatty liver disease, you will never qualify for a transplant. Once it is badly cirrhotic and your MELD (Mayo End stage Liver Disease score) rises to 14 you can be assessed for a transplant, unless you have a living donor, your MELD will be need to be around 18 to 22 (it sort of tracks along with your INR (blood clotting time, International Normalized Ratio) before you get your pager.
This all assume that anti rejection medication won't leave you susceptible to further cancers (I don't want to ask or know nitty gritty details here).
Clearly this is a discussion for a Gastroenterologist/Liver specialist and an Oncologist also.
Take care.

Stephen,
Thank you. I guess the question is if it progressed would having a history of prior breast cancer keep you off of the list anyway?
