I was diagnosed with gastroparesis few months back but I have persistent nausea. Its all day pretty much every single day and no medicine helps. My Dr said people who have gastroparesis shouldn't persistently be nauseated. So she thinks I could have anxiety/stress which I dont think I do. I do have a small tumor on my pituitary gland which I recently looked up causes nausea... I will talk to my endocrinologist about that but at this point my gastro Dr is kinda clueless about my nausea symptom and so am I. Any help on what can be causing it?
I have severe Gastroparesis. My gastro doctor says you can have nausea 24 7 with it. I do. I have it severely though. I have been to Ohio State and they prescribed Marinol which did not help for me. I have been in the hospital many times for it. I have been using phenergan pills and suppositories that do not help well. They put me on phenergan shots that I have to give myself in the thigh that does help better but I am allowed four a day and can only do one if that because it is very painful to do it there and can cause infection. I can't afford the nurses to come out every day to give it to me in the hip every day so they said they have to put a port in me to be able to get it through iv wise. so yes if you have gastroparesis severely enough you can have nausea all the time. The degree of how bad the nausea is can go down or up though for me.
It is hard to take my other medicines because of it so they have to put a port in me to give me the shots that way and other medicines. So I have to get that done. So I think it matters how severe your gastroparesis is. I am on a liquid diet now and getting the port in me. I just wanted to tell you if it is severe gastroparesis that yes you can have persistent nausea. You probably don't have it that severe and that is why your dr told you that I assume . I am not sure. One of the main things you have with gastroparesis is nausea and getting sick because you can't digest food. I hope I helped about the persistent nausea question and gastroparesis. Yes, some people do have nausea persistent from gastroparesis.
I have been suffering with gastroparesis for 3 years but have only just been truly diagnosed with it. I suffer with Nausea everyday without fail and have been on different medication for it. You having this small tumor on your pituitary gland probably causes alot of your nausea and maybe stress/anxiety? As that has a big part in making someone feel very sick. I've found that sucking on peppermint soft mints really helps me when I feel nausea I have hundreds of packets laying around! and also having a bath, although that sounds weird! It does help me.
hope this helps in some way :)
