a relative is being treated with electrical impulses and says that his pain is diminishing with frequent use of an electrode device. does anyone here know anything about it or have any first-hand experience with it?
Yes!! I actually have a TENS unit at home! My doctor prescribed one to me about 8 years ago to help treat my neck and back pain that I have from a bad car accident years ago. I have fractures to 4 vertebra (before I get put down for my spelling by some people, let me say excuse my spelling please.)
Anyway... the TENS unit helps my pain tremendously!! Although it is only a temporary relief, it is a great alternative especially for people like me who are addicted to opiates, but it doesn't work for everyone, my advice is to give it a try and see if it helps.
Good luck to you!!
The Tens machine might be alright for some people , but having peripheral neuropathy and suffering very badly from damage at base of spine , I got one of these machines but it didn't work for me . Very intense , and the electrical ccurrent forced itself through an already damaged spine and it was like an electric shock.
So unfortunately not for me !! But would definitely give it a try out as anything is worth a try . Best of luck .
I have , it seem to help for awhile then like many others it soon was of no help. have you heard of
(SCS )Spinal Cord Stimulator
I had 2 put in around the end of 2013. One at the base of skull and one in the middle of back. They help some. But I still have days that I want to cut off my feet to get some relief. (No I wouldn't but I do thin:k that ) talk to your doctor about them. They say its helped a lot of many with neuropathy
