i already taking althea last month august 7, and now i have my first day of my period sept 2, is it ok if me and my husband dont use condom on the saturday sept 6? tnx a lot..
You are protected all the time now, its only the first pack that you have to wait a week. I have a question tho, were you told to start the next pack on the first day of your period all the time? If the first pill you ever took was on a wednesday, say, then all your previous pills will start on wednesday. You don't always start it on the first day of your period. There should be a week between active pills. This means if you have a 28 day pack, you would start the next pack when you finish the first. If you have a 21 day pack, you wait exactly a week to start the next pack.
When you first start the Pill for the very first time, you start on the first day of your period or the first Sunday after (to be a "Sunday starter"). You are to use condoms as back up the first 7 days of the very first pack. After that initial waiting period, you are protected 24/7, as long as you take your pills on time, with each subsequent pack. You are protected even during the inactive pills or the week break depending if you are on a 21 day pack or 28 day pack. You MUST take the pills as they come in the pack. Never, ever alter the schedule no matter what your body is doing or not doing-if you have a 21 day pack-you take the 21 active pills and skip a week to have your period and you wait an entire seven days before starting the new pack no matter when during that time your period comes and whether or not it has stopped yet-if you have a 28 day pack, you have 21 active pills and 7 inactive pills (the inactive pills are usually a different color)-with these you just take all the pills in the pack and start a new pack the day after you finish the previous one-the break is built in with the inactive "reminder pills"-you go from pack to pack as they come no matter when your bleeding starts or ends. If you have been on the Pill since August 7th, you are protected and no longer need to use condoms if you are taking your pills daily and about the same time each day and you have not missed any active pills.
