I have tried an internet search with no luck. Don't want info on those who get it removed so that they can try to conceive again.
From what my doctor said, it takes about 6 months to settle. Mine took about 3-4 months until I didn't notice anything was different. I asked him the same question and he said that most doctors recommend waiting the 6 months, as it takes awhile for your body to adjust to it. So unless the side effects are very severe, I would think that this number would be low.
I am the Queen of Side Effects. I was very very skeptical about getting this, as I can't take the pill as it sends me into a downward spiral of depression. I tried depo provera at University and it did the same thing, The first 2 months were not great for me with Mirena, and I was thinking about taking it out. The husband kept saying, just give it the six months... and I am glad he did. Mine has settled quite well, and I am glad I waited. My periods have pretty much stopped (spotting once a month, it can be irregular). I got mine inserted to stop my periods, as they think I have endometriosis that was making my back basically fall apart once a month for over 2 weeks. So, for me, the Mirena has been great. And I am amazed I haven't had many side effects (I am a bit more tired than I was before, but that v. the back pain... Mirena wins). Hope that helps x
