I'm going to have to say, it's highly possible as renal failure is a side effect of pegylated interferons and those on it with normaly functioning kidneys must be monitored closely for toxicity. My daughter will be 4 in May was diagnosed at 15 months old with Polycythemia Vera having frighteningly high white and red blood cells as well as platelets and hematocrit and was immediately started on Pegasys injections, weekly at first now every 2 weeks. We are currently waiting on results of hla typing to most likely start the transplant process for her. She does experience too many side effects specific to Pegasys as well as some that coincide with her form of blood cancer. Hope this helped! Good luck and Good health!
