Dr took me off 50mgs of Paxil and went to 100mgs of Zoloft. After two weeks there was no improvement. Now he wants me back on Paxil. I also take BuSpar and Ativan. What happens if Paxil does not work this time? I hate the way this Ativan makes me feel but it's the only way I can keep from having anxiety!
Rhowell45; For now don't worry about if the Paxil is going to work or not sounds like your doctor just wanted you off the Paxil a few weeks and once the extra anxiety goes down when you level out on the Paxil you should be able to cut down on the Ativan. Also if for any reason the Paxil gives you any problems go back to the Zoloft I don't really know what your doctor was trying but it takes 2 weeks to get through the side effects of the Zoloft then shortly after 2 weeks like during week 3 to 4 is when the benefits of the Zoloft starts working all the way up to when you have taken it for a full 8 weeks and that is when you have the full blood level. This works the same way with the Paxil so it is important that you take your Paxil at close to the same time each day to get to the blood level when it kick's in more you should feel better and be able to cut down on the Ativan. Stick with it and you should be feeling better soon. Chuck1957
