I just got prescribed Paxil 10 mg. I haven't taken it yet. I have social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder and phobia of being sick. Is it something that actually works? I'm nervous to take because I'm scared of bad symptoms... ( bad experience with lexapro)
This is a tough question to answer. These meds all work differently with different people. For some drug x doesn't work. While others will fall in love with drug x due to its performance. Just give it a try and see how it goes. I always need a benzodiazepine to adjust to a new SSRI. and to show you it depends on the person, lexapro worked great for me.
Its helped allot of people. I can't say if it will help you or not. You won't know until you take it. And you have to give it time, it takes about a month to reach peak effect. Being scared of taking the medication that could help you is kind of counter productive. If you can force yourself to take the first one the next one will be a little easier, etc.
Everyone is different in their response to meds... as already mentioned I tried Zoloft and it keyed me up tried Paxil felt a little better but with a lack of "affect" Shrink put me on Effexor works wonders for all sorts of anxiety for me but took a long time to reach the most effective dose
