My senior citizen mother has a pacemaker and 2 stents and was taking plavix without any issues... Unfortunately when my mother's cardiologist retired and she was forced to find a new one the new doctor told her to discontinue Plavix and placed her immediately on Pradaxa. She is looking to switch doctors and go back to Plavix. Is anyone aware if this is possible? Are there risks to stop Pradaxa and return to Plavix? Appreciate any assistance you might provide.
Can patients go from Plavix to Pradaxa back to Plavix?

There should be no problem with your mother switching back to Plavix, I don't know why the new cardiologist switched her to Pradaxa because it is not recommended for the elder or those of us with stents or pacemaker. I have been hearing about lawsuits behind it causing bleeding and some deaths. Plavix is an anti platelet medication and no a blood thinner and I would be afraid of taking a blood thinner without having my blood tested.
