I'm taking Gemzar for metastatic breast cancer-metastic to the lymphnodes. I am participating in a metastatic breast cancer group in my town. It is with a private organization called Michelle's Place which is a breast cancer resource center. There are about ten women in my group and one other woman took Gemzar with very adverse reactions-kidney failure for eight months and somewhat back to normal and off dialysis. (drink lots of water) She was in the hospital for 42 days. I have been on Gemzar for about two plus months and watching it very carefully. I have many side effects but really take care of myself and have a "very positive attitude." Try not to worry too much... just now and then. I also take 10mg of Celexa daily... at night before bed. If I take it in the morning, it makes me sleepy. One side effect I'm experiencing right now is weight gain. I was at 125 lbs. and now at 133 lbs. My doctor offered me water pills but that doesn't sound good to me. Also, I exercise daily by walking and gardening on an average of about one hour daily, seven days a week. I live on a "killer" hill and walk up and down it daily. If there is something specific you would like to know from me about my experience with Gemzar, please ask.
