She was adviced to take advil(ibuprofen) together with voltaren(diclofenac 100 mg) 2 to 3days before her period. unfortunately, it does not work for her. during this period she used to feel severe pain, she crys, scream, vomit and gets irritated about her surrounding. She then said the pain will only stop when she takes 4 tablets of diclofenac 100 mg at once with advil the same amount, which makes her prone to ulcer, bleeding etc
There could be many causes of heavy bleeding such as:
•premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
•endometriosis (a painful medical condition in which cells from the lining of the uterus grow in other parts of the body)
•fibroids in the uterus (noncancerous tumors)
•pelvic inflammatory disease, an infection of the uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries often caused by sexually transmitted infections
•sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
•adenomyosis, a rare condition in which the uterine lining grows into the muscular wall of the uterus
•cervical stenosis, a rare condition in which the cervix is so small it slows menstrual flow (NLM)
Without knowing the history of this patient it is difficult to say, but the source of the problem may need investigation. Has she had a gynecolgical exam recently. Was it the gynecologist who suggested the anti inflammatory type medications?
I had the exact same symptoms when I had endometriosis!! I suffered with this from the time that I was 13 and got my first period until I was 29 and finally had my ovaries out! The only time that I didn't suffer was during my 3 pregnancies, but after the babies were born and my period resumed the pain resumed! Estrogen is what causes the pain and other symptoms if Endometriosis and until the ovaries were removed and estrogen production stopped, the symptoms continued!! I have not had one symptom since my ovaries removed altough it did put me in premature menopause.
