Yes, taking the plain 20mg Paroxetine instead of the CR could make an obvious difference.
The CR stands for "controlled release" meaning that a small amount of drug is constantly released into your body over a long period of time.
The plain 20mg releases the whole 20mg of drug into the body at once - meaning you will get high blood levels quickly, but the levels will also fall quickly leaving your blood levels low for quite sometime - withdrawal ?, depending on how often you are taking paroxetine.
