It is if you haven't taken it before, or, if you're tolerant to similar medications (Valium, Ativan, etc.). If this is not the case it can make you drowsy until you adapt to it, say, 3-5 days. Chances are if you've been treated for PD in the past, you will tolerate this just fine. If after 3-5 days you're not adapted, may make sense to check in with the Doc. In any case do not adjust the dose yourself. Hope this helps.
I bet its ordered as needed. Its the average dose of you're used to it, if not the first few may make you sleepy. There is no law that says you have to take it if you feel sedated. If you have that problem call your dr.
That is a very high dosage but everyone is different, I have a very high tolerance level so I'm prescribed 2mg Xanax 4 times a day.. 8mg a day,,, I want to start steeping down to at least 3 or 6mg a day & see if that still works.
