I am about to start a combination of 10mg Prozac (@ breakfast) and 7.5mg Remeron (@ bedtime) due to panic attacks caused by my emetophobia, which is the fear of vomiting. Don't know why I fear it, no bad experience. Has anyone had any experience with either this drug combo or emetophobia? Worried about side effects, and if medication can even help this sort of phobia.
I have taken both of these meds but not together. I stopped Prozac over 10 yrs ago due to a 35 pound weight gain in 3 months. Ironic b/c I was told a lot of people feel so much better on Prozac, they feel better, do more, and lose weight. It came up on me quick!! I am now on Remeron 30mg nightly for PTDS and depression and am happy to report it has really helped me, and have no side effects I can attach to it. I take 12 other meds and have no problem with interaction. Take care and best of luck to you. I'd love to hear how you are doing in a few weeks. Chelle
Hi, my name is Jenn. I take Prozac and Klonopin and they seem to help, but I'm nearly 36 and have literally been emetophobic for at least 30 years. I still have anxiety attacks , and unfortunately some retraumatization over the years. Prozac personally never had made me feel sick. I have come a long way after so many years. I'm lucky that I'm aware of what the possible and most likely cause is, though it hasn't changed my fear. I hope to be of some help to others and will try to make sure I am mindful of my wording. I know the terror. I'm hoping you are doing well. Just wanted to give you some info , and you are not alone. It has taken years for me to even find the word "emetophobia" to describe what I've suffered with since childhood. While I have made progress, I still am afraid. Tv and movies- all kinds of things .
I usually carry headphones with me. I have friends/family screen movies for me- I rarely GO to the movies. If you ever need support, I unfortunately haven't known life without this phobia. Jenn
