... I've recently been taking Cipramil (Celexa) which I have found to have not agreed with me at all. My Dr has prescribed me Valdoxan which is a new type of antidepressant. Anyone taken this? I have anxiety/depression/panic issues.
Hey Aussie Mel,
While Valdoxan is not available yet in the US, where I am, I have read some exciting positive clinical findings for it. This medication is not the typical SSRI or SNRI that we are use to having prescribed for depression. It acts on different receptors in the brain then the typical antidepressants. Sounds real promising to me.
I have been taking Valdoxan 25mg for two months. It ruined my sleep, caused anorgasmia and elevated liver enzymes. Hasn't done much for the depression. Withdrawal symptoms now that I'm trying to switch back to Wellbutrin. Strange that the reccommended dose is only once nightly as its half life is only 2-3 hours. A pdoc told me I might as well use over-the-counter melatonin: it's as potent and cheaper, with fewer health risks.
I am starting the switch from Lexapro to Valdoxan tonight, with a 4 week overlap as I taper the Lexapro ... will let u know how I go
