I joined this group to seek comments about my wife's dependence on both Xanax and Klonopin, as our Primarey Physician said that both drugs are the same. However when my wife has a panic attack the Xanax is fast acting and the Klonopin is longer lasting. Anyone dealing or know of anyone dealing with this issue? Thanks
This question has also been asked and answered here: Klonopin vs Xanax - How are they different?
They are both benzodiazepines with xanax working faster than klonopin. Xanax is usually used once in awhile for panic attacks since it works within 30 minutes and klonopin is better to take daily to keep it in your system for long term anxiety as it last longer. They are both habit forming. Is there something specific you would like to know?
I am on clonazepam generic for klonopin... I have been on both of these meds do to panic/agoraphobia etc... xanax/ klonopin r habit forming but if and I do have a choice I prefer clonazepam 4 it last in your system 4 up to 8 hrs where xanax is fast acting and wheres off quickly... I in my opinion don't thing she needs both 4 the k if she is taking them 2 to 3 x's a day that is what she needs... and anyone can disagree but been on both/ no that she would be better off just being on the klonopin... best of luck../prayers being sent you/ your wife's way..just don't think she should be on both in my opinion..I am not a dr, but been there millions of x's/ done that and the k is much longer lasting... seek a second opinion that might not be a bad idea... your new friend..
I've had anxiety for many years. Maybe because of the quick acting xanax and lasting effects of klonopin, is why dr. Prescribed both. You sound like you are understanding of her. That is great, if you have never had panic attacks, you have no idea how bad it can be. Is she on an antidepressent as well? They help with anxiety too, along with the xanax and klonopin. Best of luck to you guys. Let us know how it goes.
