Definitely go to the doctor but until you can get to your doctor when you notice your having a panic attack try and do something to get your mind off it, whether it is going for a walk or calling a friend or just doing something around the house. Do something that will distract you and keep you mind busy. Hope this helps.
I would encourage you to focus on your breathing--making sure that you are taking deep, relaxing breaths, instead of taking shallow breaths. You may want to identify what may be triggering the panic attack and see what you can do to remove that trigger from your life (if possible). If your panic attack is extremely debilitating--where you pass out, for example--you may want to seek medical attention at an emergency room. Some ER docs will give you a prescription for a small supply of as-needed anxiety medication to get you through the really rough spots. It's important to not just use medication as a way to "fix" the problem, however. It's possible that, in therapy, you could learn valuable skills to either a) help you avoid a panic attack or b) help you manage a panic attack when it arises. Good luck to you, and be gentle with yourself.
