I had the Mirena put in after I had my daughter. It was great for me for the longest time! I didn't notice any weight gain (although I just had a baby). Sex wasn't any different. My boyfriend would complain about the string hurting him if he didn't wear a condom so I had the string shortened. But after about a year I noticed frequent UTIs and yeast infections. A year after that, my boyfreind hit it wrong or something. I went to the dr. and they said that it was still in place but I've had painful sex ever since if he goes too deep or rough. I had it removed and I still have pain problems. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I have had the same problem ever since I had the IUD. 4 years later, it is still not any better. For his sake, I try to deal with the pain, which is bad to say. I have been to urologists, gynocologists and regular doctors. They all seem to guess pretty well, but truth is they don't know what causes it to hurt or what is wrong with me. They even did surgery on me to make sure everything inside was alright and found nothing. Sorry I can't help, but there are others out here like you.
