I have a bulging disc and a herniated disc,C7&T1, w/nerve impingement.Could this be causing this pain?I can't lay w/my head flat on pillow(supine)cause there's discomfort right away.I had an ATV accident approx.5yrs ago, plus deg.arthritis in neck.Thank you.(I am also scheduled to be tested for meniere's syndrome, which I believe I've had for many yrs.,only getting worse.)jackie clark
The pain you are describing sounds like Occipital Neuralgia. The muscles at the base of the skull go into spasm and create the pain, that as it progresses can extend up to the crown of the head. This pain is separate from the C7-T1 pain. Alternating heat and/or ice, range of motion and stretching can help this as well as massage to reduce the spasm. I hope this explanation helps and you are able to get some relief. The right physical therapy can also help. Check with your doctor for exact diagnosis.
