I have been having pain radiating down my leg into my foot that has steadily gotten worse and whenever I get up out of bed or even from sitting in a chair my leg will feel like it is about to break the pain is so intense. Please if any one can help please reply. Thank you.
Hello I hope you have gotten better since your post. Have you been to the doctor yet? If not, schedule a appointment to get checked out. Could be a nerve issue in your back. Does it get better by switching positions (laying down, walking, etc.) ? I had a pinched nerve in my back and it made my leg feel like I bumped my funny bone, numbness and that sharp tingling feeling from butt cheek to my calf. Doctor gave me some stretches to try(physical therapy type) helped a little bit. What actually helped me was a deep tissue massage. I went 3 times and honestly the last time was just because the first two were amazing. Helped instantly on first visit. Give it a try may want to still check with your doctor though.
The previous comment was very good.
It sounds like a classic case of sciatica.
The problem isn’t your leg but your lower back. The sciatic nerve gets “pinched” by a disc and the pain radiates down the leg (usually on the outer aspect). You may not even have pain in the back for it to occur.
I’d suggest you get someone to order an MRI of your lower back.
The sooner you get it fixed, the better the outcome.
If it is sciatica and the meds and treatment work, you need to change some aspects of your life because it may come back if it’s disc related.
FYI... sciatica usually responds to NSAIDS (Diclofenac is good)
to treat the inflammation. Anyone with kidney disease need to be aware of use of NSAIDS.
A med for nerve pain because that is the type of pain you have.
Hot/cold packs to the area several times a day until better.
Physical therapy to do massage and stretches. They are the people who will give you advice on how to also prevent it from happening again.
If you are overweight, now is the time to lose it.
If all else fails, a TENS Unit may help for the pain.
None of the above cure the problem if it’s disc related, it will take away the pain.
If you don’t get a response to your satisfaction, it’s good to become assertive with your doc.
Don’t wait until your next appointment in 3 months. Call the office to keep him informed of your pain and suffering. He can prescribe over the phone.
Best wishes and see an orthopedist ASAP.
Jenna1960, Hello, sorry to hear you are in such pain. Sounds like nerve pain to me. And, yes it hurts! Until you experience it, you just cannot understand it. I was ran over by a truck and it crushed my lower back and pelvis, and my sciatic nerve too. Nothing, and I mean nothing would touch the pain at first. I had to have surgery to relieve the pain, just temporarily, it helped a great deal, they gave me Neurontin, for nerve pain. I thought, great another med that won't do anything, but I tried it and gradually, it began to lessen each day. Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.
