I'm looking for pathophysiological reason why there is pain in cholecystitis and why it radiates please
No one ever told us that in school. In was just right shoulder pain is gall bladder and left shoulder pain is abdominal bleeding. No reasoning. So research-as the gall bladder becomes increasingly inflamed, it begns to irritate the diaphragm. the diaphragm is innervated by spinal nerves C3, 4 and 5. these nerves travel from the shoulder area and so pain gets referred along the nerve fibres to the c3,4 and 5 dermatomes area. hope that helps
