Hi in two days I have to get all of my teeth pulled and my jawbone shaved. I'll be receiving Iv sedation. I've never had to have this done. As you can imagine I'm extremely anxious about this surgery. My questions are as follows, if I were to call my oral surgeon would I be given a anti anxiety medication the night before surgery or the day of surgery? Also, what type of pain medication will I be prescribed after the surgery? I had my wisdom teeth removed 6 years ago and it was a nightmare. I ended up with dry socket which is extremely painful. I know that I will be hurting regardless, since it will be an evasive surgery. I'm really scared and looking for answers.
You'll most likely be given something the day of surgery once you are settled at the site of surgery. You can call the doctor and ask for something a head of time, but don't be surprised if they are reluctant because they are putting you under. Also, you will probably be given something like hydrocodone or oxycodone for the pain after surgery which is best to be taken before the pain gets bad, but no more than prescribed.
Jovi; Yes just as Laurie has said hang in there it well be over before you even notice they well put you out as soon as you get there and with what you are going through the oxycodone is my guess too very common for the surgeon to use this after such a ordeal. Don't worry you well not believe how fast it well go and just the improvement in just a day or two. Chuck1957
