I usually get pain in my left leg but recently I've had pain in my calf and sometimes in my thigh for 3 days now. I'm worried it's a clot and It's too late at night to go to quick care or my doctor. I could go to the ER but I don't know if I even have a serious problem. I don't know what a blood clot would feel like so I don't know what it is. How do I know if this is serious or not?
My first advice is to never question your health, especially a blood clot. Generally burning sensation in the calf, hard time flexing your foot, swelling and pain that resembles a pulled muscle is the signs of a DVT. If the pain gets worse, even when trying to ice or elevate it, you need to get to the hospital.
Hello I have a fool proof way to distinguish from clot vs benign pain. Lay on your bed or the floor I guess, on your back with your feet in normal position. Pointed up to the ceiling. One at a time pick a side and flex the foot down like you are pressing on the gas and hold it do you feel a pain? Do each side if you have to. Also is the area where the pain is hot to the touch or does it feel hot. You have to go get an ultrasound to be sure if a clot is present it could and often does cause strokes and heart attacks
