I have been taking MS Contin for 5 years, and it has been working just fine. However, this year, my Medicare Part D has decided not to cover this medication. They do cover Hydromorphone and Oxycodone HCL 20 and 30 MG's. Which drug is a better substitute for MS Contin?
Problem is are any of them long acting?. Ms contin is so they really aren't a match. Long acting pain meds are best for chronic pain. Will they pay for fentanyl patches? That would probably be the best. You should have changed part d carriers. Mine is history for next year. They moved all my meds for chronic pain, even tho generic, to tier 2. For next yr tier 2 is $35. They moved my vicodin generic to tier 4 and I'd have had to pay almost half the cost. Some of the part d carriers are practicing medicine and we should, not take it.
