i want a drug that will stop these things
Hey Rita ~
I just had a nerve block in my lumbar spine by my pm doctor (anesthesiologist) to calm the nerves that were causing wicked burning with pinching sensation in my toes. I had a recent left hip replacement and those sensations started shortly after that and while in rehab.
The thought was if the nerve block took care of that feeling of burning then the sensations where coming from my back. I already have nerve damage any way. I just never had that... "OH MY GOSH MY TOES ARE ON FIRE" along with the pins and needles sensations.
If it didn't work... I was going to have to undergo more EMGs in the area around the surgical site to see which nerves were involved.
The nerve block did do the trick.
Have you every had a nerve block in your neck??? I have done that as well. So here is some "food for thought" because it worked for me in the lumbar spine. It could possibly work for you in the cervical spine. You could ask your doctor if a nerve block could potentially help you rather than taking more pain medication, which by the way, didn't do diddlysquat for me... It took the nerve block for it to stop. I had already been on pain medication for a long time when this new symptom erupted post surgical.
Best of luck with this and hope you will keep us posted and up-to-date with what works for you.
