4 herniated discs. failed 3 level fusion w 2 looses screws. Anyone know a pain doc in San Antonio area who will prescribe strong effective meds like oxycodone, etc.?
David, I have had back surgery and now at 65 have degenerative disc disease plus osteoarthritis. I am a chronic pain patient. It sounds like you are as well. I take eight (8) percocet 10 mg. 325 mg. acetominephin (sic) which is generic oxycodone with tylenol as: 15 mg. 5xday or 20 mg 4xday depending on the pain level.
Your first step should be to get in touch with the surgeon and ask for help with pain if he cannot surgically correct your fusion and disc problems. If you can't reach him, are not a good surgical candidate now, or he is unwilling to help you, go to your primary care physician and ask him. With doctors you HAVE TO CONTINUALLY mention a symptom (pain in your case) over and over for them to believe you and listen. If he will not help you, ask HIM for a referral to a pain management doctor. You should get or have copies of your mri's, X-rays, and/or ct scans and their reports with you to prove up your surgeries and the present condition of your spine. A simple X-ray should show the mess you are in. A herniated disc is called spinal stenosis. Remember that term. No one should have to hurt. It is 2014 and help is out there for you. It is just going to take some work on your part to get the pain meds you need. All the best to you, Tony
