Male, 77 years old. Prescribed: Clopidogrel and 100mg aspirin A.M. and one more aspirin P.M. A year has passed and I need testicular surgery. Urologist says I must stop anticoagulants for a week before and a week after surgery. Cardiologist who originally told me to take anticoagulants for only one year, now said I must take them for life. I have early chronic kidney disease stage 3. Is there a doctor who answers these questions? What do I do?
The best thing to do is call your cardiologist and get a direct answer from him/her. I worked in the OR and all pts. we're told to stop their plav one wk before surgery, as it is an anticoagulant and can cause uncontrollable bleeding during and after surgery. I am not a doc by the way. I know that if pts. did not stop their plav they were automatically cancelled. Best of luck. L
