I get this smell an sense like im not getting enough oxygen could my pacermaker be malfunctioning? it smells like air without oxygen an its happening quite often I went to ER an they check everything an it seem to be normal but I am still having this problem what do you suggest.
Oxygen has no smell, so how can you smell air without it? Do you feel short of breath when this happens? Are your nail beds getting blue? How about your lips? If they checked your pacer then its working. Are you on any medications, some of them can cause weird smell effects? I would say see your cardiologist and be sure everything is ok there, then go from there in trying to find out what it is.
I found that I had to get used to my pacemaker, took maybe 3 to 6 weeks cause without it I had a total heart block, slow heart beat that kept slowing until it stopped. Of course I had been passing out over a dozen times before they realized what was wrong with me. Finally I got the pacemaker which works only if my heart drops below 60 beats a minute and I haven't passed out since then. So maybe just try to give your body time to get used to it since it checks out OK. But if you feel strong pain or pass out go to the ER! Good Luck! B
