... normal side effect? I haven't read that lower back pain is a side effect and I am just curious, because it is very painful, but I do have scoliosis but it really never bothered me before.
Are you taking this med for another reason other than back pain? I take it for back pain but I've not had an increase in back pain. Until they switched the formula, I used to notice relief within about 30 minutes but since they changed the formula it takes 1-2 hours before I feel reduction in pain but not as much as it used to. It may be a side effect but could it possibly be you are tuning in to the effects so you are noticing your scoliosis pain more?Don't take that wrong! I don't mean anything belittling by it just trying to ask if it a possibility that you are more aware of your back at that time?
The short acting component has been removed from the new oxyformula, it used be that you would get 30 to 40 percent of your dose in the first hour or so. Secondaly many people myself included have not been getting near the pain relief I did before. I spoke to a pharmacist at perdue and she told me that the compunds they are using to make the medication tamper proof is difficult for many to digest (break down) and therefore absorb. If you usually take 80 mgs you might only be getting 20mgs. I felt not just the return of my severe chronic pain but sick as a dog. I looked up symptoms for withdrawl and lower back pain was one of them. I had lower back pain which I did not have ever before. My pain is belly and pelvis. Maybe it is the oxycontin formula. I was finally taken off it and now I am back to life. My doctor switched me to avinza and still gives me oxir for break thru. Cant say for sure your having the same problem but it is possible.
This new stuff is not working for alot people. Increasing the dose for me was not an option the other side effects mostly gastric and headaches out weighed the benefits so no more of that for me. It has not been tested long term. It's only two years old and it hit the market August 2010, Wander what is really in that stuff.
Hope this helps.
