Would the price and effectiveness for the medication be different per month?
I'd want plain oxycodon rather then the percocet, because of the tylenol in the percocet. All long acting medicines are expensive. Personally I'd want a higher dose of the oxycontin and take it twice a day MS contin is probably the cheapest long acting med, because there is a generic. Hydromorphone does come in an extended release and may be available in generic. Your pain dr is the one who would determine your meds, you don't want to go in there acting like you know anything about narcotics. It makes you look like a drug seeker in his eyes.
That would be a question for you Dr, because like many other medications, pain meds act a bit differently for every one, and your needs are specific. As for finances, Oxycontin is very expensive as you already know, so that may be one item for consideration, but for dose comparisons and how they would affect you, the Dr who knows you best is the sure source for an accurate answer.
