I am in pain management for bulging discs. Been taking Percocet 10/325 for a long while now. Doctor is add OxyC 10mg x 3 a day. What can I expect, what did you feel the first time you took this medication? What are the most common side effects? TY
It wont feel much different from your Percocet 10. They are the same drug. The Oxycontin is just a longer acting version so you will have steadier pain control with less ups and downs. It does take several days for your blood level to build so dont be surprised if it doesnt feel like it is working as well at first. Give it at least a week. Oxycontin doesnt flood the receptor sites with medicine like short acting pain meds do so you wont feel that first bit of euphoria or rush you feel after taking a Percocet so a lot of people feel it isnt working because they dont feel that feeling. You will just get steady pain control. You may get some drowsiness or nausea, but since you have been on Percocet before I doubt you'll have any problem with it. Be sure and take it by the clock whether or not you have pain. It is not an "as needed" medicine so you take it on the clock as your Dr orders. It is not a scary medicine and really not much different than Percocet. The media has just hyped it up as some kind of horrible killer drug. Large doses can be very dangerous to people who are not opioid tolerant. As long as you take it as ordered and dont alter the pills (crushing, snorting etc) or escalate your doses on your own (without the advice of your Dr) you will do just fine with it.
not a very powerful med but long acting you dont get bodyaches like other meds but definetly constipation i have your same issue and can not get a dr to give me anything else but vicodin but as you know with any drug tolerence you will want more so take it as perscribed and maybe ice or inbetween med try not to take more cause you will want more
