I was just wandering if combinding oxycodone with phenergran would extend the half-life of my oxycodone. The pharmacist said that it is often prescribed with demerol but just wondering if anyone can tell me if it wouuld work with any other opiods besides just demerol. Thanks I know it is an odd question but if i could make my pain medicine last any longer than it is already lasting now. That would be so great. Thanks :)
Oxycodone/phernergran combination does it extend half-life like meperimide?

By the way I am LEGALLY PRESCRIBED phernergran. This is so everyone knows. My doctor never said to mix them but I was thinking about trying it.Just because my doctor didn't say I can't mix them doesn't mean i can't experiment.

So if your the type of person who passes judgement on people who experiment. Then get the hell away from my thread.
Hi, after doing some research, i have come across quite a few people that take an Oxycodone/Phenergan combination. It is quite safe - only concern is potentially slight respiratory depression. Those i have read about do believe that taking the Phenergan increases the effects of the Oxycodone. I'm guessing you are in the U.S? Is Phenergan only available on prescription there? In the U.K you can buy it OTC
I have taken Oxycodone and Phernergan together many times for Migraines and other conditions and they were prescribed by the same doctor at the same time and had no problem with the combination except that both can make you drowsy so be careful with that!! Normally you do take phernergan with Demerol, but it is safe to take with other opiates, and it helps with the nausea that some opiates can cause! As for it making the pain medicine last longer... I really can't answer that for sure because honestly I wasn't paying attention to that at the time... good luck :)
Yes, "recovered" is spot on. About 12 years ago was taking a mix of Demerol and phenergan I.M. (intra muscular). I also mixed with Vistaril that will also potentate the effects of the opiate. Both Phenergan and Vistaril have other qualities as mentioned, ie; upset stomach, allergy related issues etc. It will def work but as all have suggested, you should consult a professional as every person is different and effects are different to your particular body, chemistry, other meds or ailments, so on!
It can be used to potentiate any opioid but mainly it is just going to increase drowsiness/sedation. If you are fairly tolerant to the oxycodone, I think you will be ok. If you were a newbie to the oxycodone it would be more of a risk. I dont think it will make the opioid last any longer though. I think it is just going to make it feel stronger when you take it and possibly cause increased drowsiness/sedation. The normal dose is 25 to 50 mg. You dont say what strength they gave you, but start with the lowest dose and go from there-see how it affects you, and if it even works for what you want it to. It may make you too drowsy to function. Phenergan has no analgesic properties on its own, as you may already know. It can dry your mouth out pretty bad so you may want to chew some sugarless gum or suck on some ice chips to help with the dry mouth. It can also make you more sensitive to the sun so use sunblock, wear a hat and protective clothing if you go out in the sun.
Stay away from alcohol, of course, even the next day after you take it. Alcohol will increase CNS depression of both oxycodone and phenergan, as you likely already know-just mentioning it for safety sake-not being judgemental or accusing in any way!
I am going to anser this question becasue aracrnoidcyst is an older member that had a simple question, but with some of the answers he wasgetting from newer members that are not famililar with him or his problems, meds etc,,, seem to be pretty jusdental when answering a question. I am suppgesting that newer members read a profile before answering questions. It justm takes a second r two. You would have realized he is not dummy when it comes to his conditions or meds as he has been n pain drugs for many years. He finally PQ'd me, not that I am an expert, but we take the same meds, & we have the same condition. Thanks you Dzoobaby for finally clearing the air on here & answering correctly. I'm no expert on anything, & don't believe anyone on this community is, but it would help some of the newer members to chek up on the eprson by simply chicking a persons profile before opening mouth & inserting foot. Aracnoid, I hope you are feeling better today.
I understand your frustation with the answers given. Glad we understand each other, & are old friends. Good luck buddy...
