I have been on some sort of pain pill for 6 years. I'm so tired of living this way. My mother has a problem with pain pills. My worst fear is becoming her. I have norcos, not my doc (out of roxys) and a bottle of methadone. I do have lupus but I need help
My first question would be... why have you been on pain meds for 6yrs. Chronic pain? accident... I've been on them for nearly 10yrs now, but it's the only option in my personal situation. Although I'm frequently on a routine schedule of them, I do try to take them only as needed when possible.
My best advice is to find a "GOOD" pain management doctor that specializes in writing for such drugs. "Good" does not mean "easy". It means they track you like a felon. You'll be required to sign a drug contract, restricted to ONE pharmacy and they do random drug tests to make sure you're not taking something unprescribed. It's a pain. But I know she's looking out for MY best interest and is willing to discuss options. Recently I began getting less relief from the Norco, and have been prescribed dilaudid... I'd much rather change to a patch application... possibly fentynal... but that will have to wait for my next appointment at the end of the month.
I hope you look ento the Pain Mgmt thing... it might be the answer you are searching for.
