I'm wondering if it's a good treatment for Fibromyalgia
It helps the pain. Doctors don't like to prescribe it for fibro tho. Usually its a combination of an anti depressent, something like lyrica or gabapentin and muscle relaxers. Also for some reason, its really difficult to even lessen fibro pain. For me its been incorporated into my life since I was a little girl and I've found what helps when it gets bad, but that's individual.
Hi Jewels. I know lots of others will disagree with me, but I am on oxycodone 30mg for pain related to my back & bones with severe osteoporosis & osteoarthritis. I also have fibromyalgia, & personally it does not stop any of my fibro pain at all. I think I have tried most of the other meds too like Lyrica, gabepentin & antidepressants & still had no luck. Others do great with some of these other drugs like Lyrica or gabepentin. Some do well with cymbalta which is an antidepressant med, or Savella. Have you seen a rheumatologist? They are your best best for finding something that will help your pain. I recently read an article that now they are saying that people with fibro have something wrong with the pain receptors in the brain. Oh great! They think they are malformed or something. It's not conclusive, but it makes one wonder with so many people that suffer from it.
I hope I haven't put a damper on your thoughts, but I take mine everyday at least 4 to 6 times & the fibro doesn't change in intensity at all. The only advice I can give you, is to try it & see, but I don't believe you will find it will help..
Jewels39, I agree with kaismama and Macintosh. I definately believe it can help. Fibro is such a painful disease already. It's miserable to live with. While some may argue it, if it helps the extreme pain you feel, why wouldn't you take it. Noone likes to walk around and deal with pain all the time. There are many remedies that can help, yes, and I'm not knocking them at all. I take it, for chronic pain along with Gabapentin for Fibromyalgia. The Lyrica disturbed my vision, and I couldn't take and the other one either due to side effects. Everyone is different, and I'm not saying to run to a pain ill. but if you have to have it to live a more productive life, then I say... go ahead, and have no regrets, or guilt over it. I deal with the devestating pain Fibro can do to you. Good luck, hon, and you take care, and many blessings to you. Ruthie
