Im a dialysis patient, with ESRD, I also have polycystic kidney disease (pkd). Ive taken these drugs for pain 7 years now. The pain is getting worse and with having surgeries on and off how am I ever going to get off these drugs. I have very little energy as it is with kidney failure. Ive agreed to go to pain managment to see what they say. I take 40mg of oxycodone sometimes 2x a day (allowed) and bad days dilaudid 4mg along with all the renal drugs, am I just stuck always needing these drugs?
"Needing" them is totally up to you. You do not have to take them, many of us are getting cut off because of DEA intimidation of Drs because of the abuse is beyond their ability to control it, so those of us, like you, have to re-adapt and learn to deal with our pain in other ways.
So there it is, if you were cut off tomorrow and reduced to zero over 6-7 month period, you would be adapting, so, you can make the decision and start today.
A new life it is once we're med free, and there's pain either way.
I just got diagnosed with CKD with my kidney function being at approximately 50% at the moment ... so all this is still new to me... but I go to pain management due to a horrific car accident were I was called "a walking dead person" due to my may injuries.I have degerative disc disease in my neck as well, that I'very since had to have 2 discs replaced & fused on top of the c-1 fracture from the wreck. Just some of more issues... 4 pevic fractures, L-5 fracture, both my arms were to be amutated,God called my baby daughter Home, couldn't comfort my oldest child or my Grandchild or even morn myself because the pain was overwhelming & they sent me home 5 day after the accident with many trips back & forth for surgeries... Anyway my kidney specialist that has taken me on knows of my many troubles & see nothing wrong with the meds that my pm uses to treat my conditions.
I only use the oxycodone as a post surgery Medicine & then go right back to my day to day stuff( low dose Karin every 12 hrs & Hydrocodone for break through pain) which I was told isn't an issue to my kidney function just don't add anything like Tylenol or Cold medicine without checking with them first.NOW To the person that thinks that pain is pain & you're going to have it & you can learn to live with it YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT... when you have to have someone else do for you because you can't do anything for yourself... not even a drink of water when it's only inches away or even move a hair... a hair... to try to get some relief without having someone help you... then you may feel free to speak more openly about someone being able to learning to live without pain medication... because THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT WOULD LOVE TO DO JUST THAT & have truly tried on more than one occasion throughout the Years that I have been disabled by no fault of my own but a blessing from God when He called my youngest daughter Home to be with Him. She was a Christian, there were no drugs or alcohol involved... she had just finished her job that God had for her here. He blessed me & let me be with her when He took her back & He showed me everything through the fog of my head injury for latter understanding. SO TO YOU MAY YOU THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU SPEAK because THERE'S ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO HAS IT WORSE THAN YOU SO DON'T JUDGE THAT'S GOD'S JOB & everyone who takes medicine doesn't wants to be... granted there are these bad ones out there that make it hard for the people that need help that just like the drugs. If not these another one... People can't suffer & die because of someone else's stupidity. Just like the shoplifter makes us pay more at the grocery store... ect. Honestly I wish I could just wake-up & it was only a nightmare... I'm
Possitive I'm not alone. Enough already, God bless you... God bless you all.
