For the last 4-5 years I've been taking 4 5mg oxycodone/325 mg acet. I feel off a 3 story building back in 1982, it took a few years before the pain hit me hard. My pain never goes away totally. Reading a lot of the other Q&A's where people are taking so large amounts, but I'm getting all my medical thru the VA and they told me the 5mg is the max they will give me. In February I see my primary Dr., hoping she increases my number of tabs. Do you think this would help or am I going to tough it out. I've been on social security disability for 5 years after losing my other the road semi driving job.
Hi there!! Omg, how awful, I can't imagine falling 3 stories and living to tell my story!! You are an incredibly strong person and I commend you on that!! The VA Medical Centers are extremely strict when it comes to controlled substances, as are pain clinics. I go to a pain clinic in MN and I'm on the same thing that you are, Hydrocodone 5/300 APAP. I can only take UP to 2 per day, 8 hours apart. I'm also on the fentanyl patch, 25mcg changed out every 72 hours. Neither of them completely relieve my pain, especially on flare days. I take Epsom Salt baths. I use Village Naturals Therapy Mineral Bath Soak Stress & Tension Relief. It's infused with juniper, menthol and camphor to help relax the pain away. It gives a pleasant tingly feel when immersed in the nice hot bathwater. A word of advice though, rinse it off thoroughly after your bath. If you use regular Epsom salt, no need to rinse it off afterwards unless you want to. You can get both of these in lotion, too
I also use the Active Composition essential oil by Aveda. It's pricey but it's worth it!! I'm hoping your doctor will prescribe you more pills when you see her. Best of luck to you, sending you my prayers, love and light!!
