I was on Wellbutrin but having problems with it, my dr. gave me a prescription, written in typical dr. chicken scratch fashion, for something else -- this is what I ended up with. I am wondering now if the pharmacist misread it?
I've never heard of it being used as an anti depressant. You can call the dr and ask if that was what was written for.
Oxycarbazepine is an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing drug, used primarily in the treatment of epilepsy. It is also used to treat anxiety, mood disorders, and bipolar disorder. It may help with depression, ask your doctor or pharmacist about it.
Hi, Tro! I agree that oxcarbazepine (Trileptal) would be an odd choice for use alone as an antidepressant, but it may have some value as a mood stabilizer.
Double check to be sure it's what the doctor ordered but there's a wide choice of antidepressants available if this doesn't help.
Best wishes, WCV
Trocarus, hey! Trileptal is used for bi-polar disorder. It is sometimes used in conjunction with another drug such as Abilify (an awful drug according to my shrink) to help make a cocktail. What problems did with Wellbutrin?
