Ive hardly left my house in the past 5 months due to severe anxiety. I've been on Prozac for about 4 months for that and moderate depression with very little progress. Could overactive thyroid be the cause? I have a lot of the symptoms including nausea/burps at the front of my throat. I take dietary and magnesium supplements, I've been working out more and eating better, NOTHING is helping my anxiety. Please help!
Yes a thyroid condition can cause anxiety. And can lead to a lot of other serious conditions. So if you think that is the problem then please consult your doctor n he will run test on you. The sooner you do this the better. I've been having to deal with it for years. It's not fun! Keep us posted? Good luck & god bless :)
Yes - hyperthyroidism can certainly cause anxiety. I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease at the age of 24 (am now 61) and even though I went through treatment and have been considered hypothyroid for 37 yrs I still suffer from anxiety disorders today. You can get your thyroid functions tested very easily with bloodwork so I recommend doing that ASAP.
