I have a memory foam mattress pad on my bed and take Mobic 15mg right before I go to sleep, but pain still wakes me early in the morning. If I sleep on my back, the arthiritis in my back wakes me up from pain, if I sleep on my side, it's my hips.
Hello Sandra, Have you tried an air type mattress such as a sleep number bed? You can put your memory foam topper on it. A lot of folks say they really like the air mattress type beds. They are kind of pricey, but well worth it. Try googling it and read the reviews. Also you may need to see a pain management doctor to better help you with your pain. I wish you the best, pamee
I swear by elavil for sleep. It not only helps you fall and then stay asleep, it helps with pain to. It gives you a good 8 hours of sleep and when you wake up you don't feel groggy. At least I didn't. Of course all med's work different on different people. Elavil is an old med, therefore the FDA has had longer to work on its effectiveness and it's side effects. If elavil doesn't work by its self try it with a pain reliever at bedtime, or try any sleep aid your doctor chooses with your pain reliever. Sleeplessness amplifies pain significantly. Don't get caught in that cycle.
I have that same problem. I recently got a new softer mattress that supports my whole body, so when I lay on my back, my lower back is supported. I've slept on memory foam mattresses and they were too hard for me. I have to make sure when I sleep on my side I'm not directly on my hip. Putting a pillow under your knees when laying on your back will help, and either getting or making a small pillow with straps to attach to the inside of one knee when you lay on your side so the top leg is supported in a normal position will help too. I'm the queen of pillows and stuffed animals for positioning, lolol.
I just got the script for Mobic but on fence with taking it. The sleep issue for me was solved by taking 250mg. Magnesium, Nature Made brand only (in sealed capsule not non-coated pill form) with food 3 times a day. I sleep much better now. I do not take anything on an empty stomach. Hope this helps.
