I have been dealing with hormone imbalance for 4 years now and seems to be getting worse, recently my doctor recommended ortho cyclen, but because of my age I'm afraid to take them. I have read so many bad things about it and I have read many good things too. I'm just desperate, I can not take the mood swings, heavy bleeding, and periods that last for almost two weeks, depression, it feels like my body just shuts down not able to do anything. I have read that this pill will help with all that but I'm afraid of all the risks and side effects, anyone over 40 ever taken this pill? Please share.
If you get side effects worse then what you have now in symptoms, you can stop it. You aren't tied to it once you start it. The risks can be managed by having regular check ups and mammograms. The chance of blood clots is there, but they have symptoms to watch for and they can be treated. You're letting your anxiety keep you from treatment of a terrible problem. I took hormone replacement for years and never had a problem with it, this is no different.
