Herpes can I still contract genital herpes?? Thank You..
Absolutely yes! Herpes are related viruses but are different.
You probably are more susceptible to type 2 (genital) because the virus is in your body which compromises your immune system.
You need to research the precautions of when you or she is at a contagious state.
I recently read that most Herpes Type 1 (oral) is contracted during childhood and remains dormant until you are older when hormonal changes are occurring .
Children are infected usually by kissing from adults. I taught my kids to turn their head if an adult tried to kiss them so they would kiss their head instead dsdof their mouths.
They also get it from toys, lip balm, etc. It has a short life outside of the body but it does happen.
You may notice you get an outbreak with the blisters which can occur in the mouth, gums, cheeks, lips, after a period of stress or an illness. Anything that compromises your immune system so it's important to develop a healthy lifestyle.
The positive news is that the symptoms become less painful as you get older because antibodies increase.
She needs to basically follow the same advice. You need to have a talk so you don't contract Type 2.
